But 'पढ़ती है' and 'पढ़ा' aren't just different words — they mark different TENSES. 'वह पढ़ती है' is present tense — happening now, or a habit (she generally reads). 'उसने पढ़ा' is past tense — it says the reading already happened, not that it's happening now. Both sentences are about the same person, but they describe completely different times. Test it: hearing 'वह पढ़ती है' makes us think she's about to read or reads as a habit, while 'उसने पढ़ा' tells us the reading is already done. Her brother is right: 'पढ़ती है' is present tense and 'पढ़ा' is past tense — different words here mean different tenses, not just different style.
