Why

If you said we can't be sure yet, that's exactly the sharp move here — you noticed two possible causes and no way to pick between them. Both fit what we see: too much sun can wilt a plant, and so can too little water. Wilting is the RESULT; it doesn't tell you which cause did it, because different causes can produce the same sign. The fix isn't to guess — it's to gather one more clue that separates them: feel the soil. Dry and crumbly points to water; damp soil with a scorched, pale look points to sun. Test the idea: a doctor seeing a fever doesn't name the illness on the spot — the fever fits many causes, so they check further. The honest answer is: not yet — one observation can't decide between two causes that both explain it.
